Job Posting: Collaborative Pianist

Mission-driven women's choir based in Oakton, VA seeks collaborative pianist.

Capital Harmonia is a community women's choir (currently around 20 members) that celebrates women through music, elevates women composers, and builds community by partnering with organizations that support women. We've performed for shelters, women's clubs, nursing homes, and health organizations throughout the Washington area, 'paying it forward' in partnership with other women's organizations. Our repertoire spans everything from Classical to Broadway, Jazz, Pop, and contemporary choral works.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accompanying weekly rehearsals (approximately 2 hours) from September through May, with a winter break

  • Playing for approximately 8 performances throughout the season

  • Collaborating with the Artistic Director to support efficient, musical rehearsals

  • Working with the Artistic Director to coordinate any necessary substitutes in the event of an absence

Rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 7-9pm in Oakton, VA.

This is a role that fits naturally into a life already full of meaning: whether that's family, other creative work, or simply the desire to belong to something warm and purposeful. We're a supportive group and are able to work around the occasional scheduling conflict when life gets in the way.

Compensation:

A stipend of $1,000 will be provided for the role. We recognize that this isn’t full compensation for your time or skills, but we hope that the mission of the choir (performing without pay for women’s organizations) appeals to someone looking to give back. Whether you're building your collaborative repertoire or simply looking for a meaningful musical community, what we can offer is a choir that appreciates you and is dedicated to supporting and elevating women, in music and in the world.
